Sweet, Savory, and Gravy: Spoons and Ladles

Class Description

Taught by BRIAN WEISSMAN

8 week course (meets once a week for 3 hours)

Spoon - Forged, fabricated, soldered or riveted, a utensil for every occasion.

If you’ve been looking for an in depth exploration of how a handle finds its bowl, this is the class you have been waiting for. In this 8-week class, we will explore a range of techniques and processes to create your special spoon. From forging and forming to sinking and riveting, milling, soldering, and so much more. Come with designs to work on, or get inspired by the processes you learn. Three different approaches to creating utensils will be demonstrated and you will be able to finish several pieces by the end of the class. Work in copper, brass, bronze and silver – it is your choice.

Who hasn’t wanted to make a spoon to call their very own?

Open to all levels. Class size 4 – 12 students. A tool kit will be available through the BKMW Tool Shop soon. In addition to course materials, students must bring a notebook and writing utensil.
